Milad Modabber, MD, MSc., FRCSC

Dr. Milad Modabber is a double-board certified Cornea, Anterior Segment and Refractive surgeon, providing care at Herzig Eye Institute. Dr. Modabber completed his medical training at McMaster University. He subsequently completed his residency in Ophthalmology at McGill University, serving as co-chief resident. During his tenure, he served as the president of the Canadian Council of Ophthalmology Residents, and also received numerous awards, research grants, and recognitions at all levels of study. Dr. Modabber then pursued a fellowship in cornea, anterior segment, and refractive surgery at the prestigious University of California, Davis.

To date, Dr. Modabber has authored many scientific publications and has presented his research at dozens of national and international conferences, leading to his recognition as the Best Paper of Session award at the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s annual conference. He has also authored a book chapter in the textbook “Cornea”, the leading textbook in the field.

Dr. Modabber maintains a strong interest in global health, program development and the provision of eye care to underserved communities, both in Canada and internationally. He has worked with organizations such as ORBIS, the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB), and United Medical Relief to help provide care in several countries worldwide. His passion for global health has been recognized through several awards including the prestigious ASCRS Young Eye Surgeons International Service Grant.
